With some exceptions, this has often proved to be an impossible pairing. Hence the attempt to turn Basque into a travelling companion of sport, for Basque to become an important part of children and <strong> young people&#8217;s leisure time<\/strong> as well.<\/h2>\n\n<div style=\"height:15px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-28f84493 sport. In the opinion of Johan Huizinga (2008), games take us out of everyday routine to immerse us in another world, one where (almost) anything is possible. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:33.33%\">\n<p class=\"has-link-color wp-elements-e65b676ac9423d7ea1872c6c3c7330a0\" style=\"font-size:14px\"><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ccma.cat\/tv3\/alacarta\/tot-un-mon\/maisha-caminar-amb-orgull\/video\/5631130\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Ma\u2019isah<\/a><\/strong> project talks about the options sport can open up.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"aurrekariak-d-ereduko-kirola\">Background: D ereduko kirola<\/h3>\n<\/p>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-28f84493 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:100%\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\" id=\"nolako-aukerak-dituzte-gaur-egungo-12-eta-16-urte-arteko-haurrek-eta-gazteek-euren-bizitza-euskaraz-egiteko-gehienei-eskolak-eskaintzen-die-euskaraz-aritzeko-esparru-bat-baina-hortik-kanpo\" style=\"font-size:25px\">What options do young people aged 12-16 have today to live their life in Basque? For most of them, school offers them a place to express in Basque, but what happens outside this sphere? <\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-28f84493 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:80%\">\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap has-text-align-justify\" style=\"font-size:18px\">These questions were the starting point for the <strong>action research project<\/strong> <strong><em>D ereduko kirola<\/em><\/strong>, which began in 2016. A field study was then conducted, going out to the clubs themselves to talk to coaches and young players, and observe the existing sporting climate at first hand. Thus, the protagonists were the clubs themselves, because it was a matter of finding out close up about the experiences of these children and young people. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:33.33%\">\n<p class=\"has-link-color wp-elements-642da4f3afc2956376244eb2c3d71922\" style=\"font-size:14px\">Over three years, we shared sports grounds, courts and pitches with all of them. In 2019, after publishing and disseminating the results of the 2016-2018 cycle, the first steps were taken to put this into practice. Moreover, Basque can also help to build a team, and can be a motor to strengthen this group. Sport can be seen as a <strong>bridge <\/strong> between school and the street, always within the process of <strong>socialisation and learning in Basque<\/strong> for young speakers.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:33.33%\">\n<p class=\"has-link-color wp-elements-4d85a125beb0b6b0f3afb00e813fa62b\" style=\"font-size:14px\"><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=owKn-Y49Yps\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Na Gaeil \u00d3ga<\/strong><\/a>, sports club set up to speak in Irish Gaelic.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-28f84493 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:80%\">\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\" style=\"font-size:18px\">The notion of the safe space is of key importance to the <em>Euskara Kirolkide<\/em> project. We have been working to define it, and continue to do so. This process of description includes three elements:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:33.33%\">\n<p class=\"has-foreground-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-04f450550f78290f9667bce3b545a04e\" style=\"font-size:14px\">You can read here the article <a href=\"https:\/\/bat.soziolinguistika.eus\/eu\/produktua\/babesguneak-euskal-hiztun-gazteak-aktibatzeko-aukera\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong><em>\u201cBabesguneak: euskal hiztun gaz-teak aktibatzeko aukera\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/a>. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-left\" id=\"taldea-harremanak\"><em><strong>Group, relations<\/strong><\/em><\/h4>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-28f84493 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\" style=\"font-size:18px\">Rosemary Clark-Parsons (2018, 2130) defines the concept of the safe space as relational work. The group needs to be created, and in this task of creation lies another of its abilities, because the task is in the hands of the members of the group. This gives room for creativity and risk, with members and speakers taking on the power to decide. In this <strong>learning process<\/strong> within the safe space, it may be that not everybody has the same goals.
